Template Testing

This information is for system administrators or super users who are responsible for setting up the SmartDox templates.

After the creation or modification of a SmartDox template it is imperative that the template is tested to verify that it works correctly. The following are steps that should to be taken to test the template. These steps will not cover every possible template design or usage scenario, and they may need to be adjusted to test the unique mappings of an individual template.

  1. Select the ProLink menu in the template.

  2. Perform the steps for the Get Data feature.

  3. Open the web-based ProLink application. In the ProLink application, locate and open the record that corresponds to the record that the SmartDox template is associated with.

  4. When the template has completed getting the data, verify that the data in the SmartDox template matches the data shown in the web-based ProLink application. If the data matches, then the Get functionality and fields are working properly.

    Note

Test each mapped field in both directions, where applicable, to ensure that data is both retrieved from and sent to the ProLink application correctly.

  5. Test the Send Data functionality. Modify data in fields that have a direction of Both or Send. Following the Send Data steps, send the data to the ProLink application.

  6. When the template has completed sending the data, open the ProLink application or refresh the page and verify the information currently within the template matches the information for the record in the ProLink application.

  7. Repeat the test process for all mapped fields within the template to verify that the template works properly.
